          Hrair Sarkissian photographed hundreds of examples of backdrops he found in studios across six cities-Alexandria, Amman, Beirut, Byblos, Cairo and Istanbul.!

          Hrair Sarkissian is a Syrian-Armenian artist, born and raised in Damascus, where his father founded the first photographic colour laboratory in Syria.

          He currently lives in the UK and has exhibited in many places in Europe and around the world.

          After exhibiting his works in several Sharjah Biennials, Sharjah Art Foundation is now unveiling an expansive presentation of many of the artist’s most significant works, curated by Dr Omar Kholeif.

          Hrair Sarkissian's works revolve around individual and 'collective' memory and identity.
